The Road to Mongolia

"Mongolia - better to visit once than hear about it a thousand times"- Mongolian Proverb

You can take any route to Mongolia - you are limited only by your sense of adventure. Have a click through some of our routes below to get some ideas.

The shortest route is straight through Russia (not shown below) and the northern border of Mongolia. At around 5500 miles this can be done in as little as 8 days. However, this is all paved road, in varying condition, and can be very dull. The longest routes are those heading south and can be up to 10,000 miles if you head through Iran. You should figure on up to a month to complete those routes if you take in countries such as Kyrgyzstan and go through the western border into Mongolia. More details on the page for routes in Mongolia. The middle routes are around 7000 miles. There is no set arrival date in Mongolia.
