We left Ray & Janina in Lithuania after a great couple of days stay in their home and set off to get to our next major stop off point in Russia. The route took us through Poland where we stayed at the greatest truckers Motel (if you can call it that!) with a, as ordered, ice-cold shower for the morning!  read more »

Hi All, here we are typing from a gigantic super shopping centre just inside Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania. Since our last blog (yes i know it's been a few days) we've been busy driving (obviously) and also through a few more countries. We originally realised that our slightly optimistic timescale to travel up Sweden then down Finland would've taken far too long so we re-assessed our timings and decided to get the 'short' ferry across from Stockholm to Helsinki. Upon arrival it turned out the 'short' crossing turned out to be a 14 hour overnight mini-cruise! Well after sight-seeing in Stockholm and going to a fun fair we then played Monopoly in the jazz bar on our cruise with beer in hand, awesome and yet weird!  read more »

we are finally on our way !!!!

In an ironic role reversal Neil eventually woke up at 2:45 yesterday morning and waved off by Mr Panton we set off on our journey. Our aim was to make Southern Denmark by the end of the day, Tom Tom tried to tell us it would take us 11.5 hours...we thought we might have to reconsider! To be honest neither of us can remember too much of the first day's driving since collectively we both managed about 3 hours sleep the previous night!

Just got to Namangan. Was hoping to cross the Kyrg border this evening but we've heard on the grapevine it's closed for the evening, so will try tomorrow. Currently staying in a "hotel", not the best we've seen... Was awesome driving through the mountains from Tashkent today. More mountains planned for tomorrow.

Made it through the border this morning to Tashkent. Currently in the rather lovely Markaziy Hotel, swimming pool, sauna... awesome! However it's quite like a sauna outside too, 40* plus... hot weather for us gingers!

Got through the Kazahkstan border but the Uzbekistan borders are shut for the night... Got some beer though, so all good! Managed to fix gearbox today though still a bit dubious about the rear suspension. Looking forward to getting to Toshkent tomorrow.

Hey all, now in a hostel in Irktusk. Taxi is behaving itself exceptionally well, despite the strain of towing the ambulance every now and then. We're hoping to get a couple of days down in Lake Baikal before hitting the mongolian border first thing next week (hopefully the issues at the border will be sorted out by then).

 Really looking forward to getting to Ulaanbaatar, Siberia has been very cool but hard going. 4 days following sign posts for one city is enough to drive you mad, so some much needed R&R over the next few days shall get us back on track.
